NAS Drive Data Recovery

An external hard drive that connects to your network is called a NAS drive. Basically these are miniature computers with standards hard drive(s) inside. They can contain single or multiple hard drives and some can contain a RAID. Data recovery from the drives follows the same procedure as standard Hard Drive Recovery but the following information is also relevant.

On the internal hard drive of the NAS exists not only your data but also the operating system of the NAS. Just as your home computer can have issues so can the operating systems on NAS drives. Should one fail to startup or shutdown properly, or have a corrupted file for some reason, the NAS drive may appear to not turn on, or not share your data over the network correctly.

The good news is that in situations such as these, most of the time the data is perfectly fine, so you do not need to panic. What is important is knowing what to do next. Turn the device off at the mains and contact us on 0845 475 4512. One of our on-site engineers will be able to access the situation and advise you on what best to do next. Often the issues can even be solved on site.
